Because right here, only a few minutes from the Castel, starts the highest air cushion funicular railway of the Alps and the world. It takes you to your snow and sun adventures comfortably. Your skis are already waiting for you in your locker at the valley station of the cable car. And in summer you can rent your bike on the way to your final destination. You can’t easily get it more comfortably.

How did it come that Serfaus has an underground train in the mountains? Narrow streets and a main road with a dead end regularly led to traffic jams. Thus, parking spaces were built at the entrance of the village and the main road was closed to private transport in 1970. Busses took friends of the winter and summer visitors to the cable car. Though, at one point not even the busses could handle the number of visitors anymore, which led to one possible solution: to transfer the transport to below the streets. In 1986 Serfaus opened its transport miracle.

By now, the air cushion funicular railway, which operates with air cushion suspension, has become the highlight of the daily transport in Serfaus – for holiday makers and locals alike. Between 2017 and 2019 the underground train was enlarged and renewed for the last time. It operates daily from 7:45 a.m. to 6:45 p.m. and takes railway alpine adventurers from their hotels to their holiday fun and back – summer and winter.
